Eagles at the Harbor

My husband and I had the opportunity to capture some eagle that were feeding down at one of the harbors here in town. That's one of the cool things about living in Juneau, Alaska, the abundance of wildlife around. We joined a few other folks from my photography group that I am part of on Face Book for about an hour.

There were more than 30 eagles circling above our heads at any given time. If it were not hard enough to focus on just one eagle, throw a few seagulls in the mix too, and its a real party!

We staged ourselves at the end of the docks. The sun was hidden behind some clouds, but the eagles were eager and wanted to fly in from the south, and of course from my point of view, the view with the colorful houses in the background. You either had to wait till they almost hit the water to capture their food, or suffer with the houses in the background. And I just love the way that he is spread out here in the photo below. (Just try to ignore the BRIGHT BLUE house behind him!!)

Each bird would circle and dive bomb the water; claws out, eyes wide, tail feathers down! It was awesome. And I will do it again, and again!! You can see all of the images here.
